Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has ordered to reopen closed government industries, accelerate privatization activities and take necessary steps to attract both domestic and foreign investment to reopen these industries.
The meeting was held at 3:30 pm on Thursday in the meeting room of the Cabinet Division of the Bangladesh Secretariat.
The meeting decided to take necessary steps to quickly reopen government industries that have been closed for a long time, speed up activities by removing bureaucratic complications and quickly start production process by attracting private investment in these industries. The Prime Minister has ordered to complete this process by 2026. In addition, the meeting directed the relevant agencies to take effective initiatives to ensure an investment-friendly environment.
Finance and Planning Advisor Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, Commerce, Industry and Textiles and Jute Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir, State Minister for Textiles and Jute Shariful Alam, Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Executive Chairman Ashik Chowdhury and senior officials of the concerned ministries and organizations were present at the meeting.
