A man named Munarul Islam (40) died after falling ill at a brothel in Daulatdia in Goalanda upazila of Rajbari. He is a resident of Dumur Kabir village in Sirajganj Sadar upazila and is the son of the deceased Chan Kha.
The incident took place on Saturday (July 26) night.
According to police and local sources, a group of about 45 to 50 people from Sirajganj district came to Daulatdia for a boat trip. At that time, Munarul Islam entered the Daulatdia brothel with 5 to 6 of his companions. After staying there for some time, at around 2 am, he suddenly felt severe chest pain in front of the main gate of the brothel and fell to the ground.
The people with him and the people around him quickly rescued him and took him to the Goalanda Upazila Health Complex. The doctor on duty there declared him dead at around 2:20 am.
Some local sources claim that he had taken aphrodisiacs before falling ill. However, the veracity of this information has not yet been confirmed. Police say that the actual cause of death will be confirmed only after receiving the autopsy report.
Goalanda Ghat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Shafiqul Islam said, "Upon receiving the news, the police went to the scene and the hospital. Initially, it was learned that the man suddenly fell ill and felt chest pain and was later taken to the hospital where the doctor declared him dead. Although the matter of taking aphrodisiac drugs has been heard from various sources, it is not yet confirmed. The real cause of death will be known after receiving the autopsy report. Legal proceedings are ongoing in this incident."
Police said that the body has been sent to the morgue of Rajbari Sadar Hospital for autopsy after preparing a post-mortem report. Necessary legal action will be taken after receiving the autopsy report.
