Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) said an oil tanker caught fire after an explosion while attempting to cross a route reportedly planted with mines south of the Strait of Hormuz.
The IRGC said that after the explosion and the outbreak of a severe fire aboard the tanker, two other vessels changed course.
The IRGC said the Strait of Hormuz is under its control and will remain completely closed as long as US "aggressive actions" continue in the region.
It warned that any vessel misled by the United States and attempting to cross the strait without coordination with the Islamic Republic of Iran would face the same fate.
The IRGC called on the United States to end its interventions, saying they only contribute to an energy crisis and a decline in agricultural fertilizer supplies.
Six explosions rocked the city of Erbil in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq on Wednesday, coinciding with the activation of the US air defense system in the city.
At the same time, Iran's Fars News Agency cited local sources as reporting several explosions in Jordan, claiming that Iran had targeted positions housing US military personnel in the eastern part of the country.
Iran's Tasnim News Agency also cited news sources as saying that a drone was hit inside the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan.
Earlier, the Public Relations Department of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps announced that it had targeted "US bases in Jordan once again" in response to what it described as enemy aggression, as part of the 25th wave of Operation Nasr 2.
According to the IRGC statement, the first phase of the response involved missile and drone attacks targeting the King Faisal and Prince Hassan bases. The statement said the strikes hit a facility used to equip F-15 aircraft and completely destroyed eight new MQ-9 drones that were still in their containers before deployment, while two other drones in the area sustained heavy damage.
The statement added that a subsequent attack on a helicopter storage facility caused extensive damage to two heavy US helicopters. It also claimed that several personnel were killed and wounded in an attack on a military outpost belonging to the attacking forces.
