Stormy winds reaching speeds of 45–60 km/h, accompanied by rain or thundershowers, may sweep across 10 districts by noon, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has said.
The warning was issued for the country’s inland river ports and will remain in effect until 1pm on Thursday (23 July).
According to the warning, temporary gusty or stormy winds from the south or south-eastern direction, reaching speeds of 45–60 km/h, may affect Dhaka, Faridpur, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet regions.
Rain or thundershowers are also likely in the areas.
The river ports in these regions have been advised to hoist warning signal No. 1.
