Prime Minister Tarique Rahman held a meeting with the concerned on the plan and implementation strategy for expanding the 'Family Card' program across the country in phases.
The meeting was held at the Cabinet Division of the Secretariat on Monday.
The meeting discussed in detail the progress of implementing the 'Family Card' program, one of the most important commitments announced in the BNP's election manifesto, and the outline of its phased expansion across the country.
At the time, the Prime Minister emphasized on adopting realistic plans, making the best use of modern technology, and ensuring effective coordination among all the ministries and organizations concerned to expand the Family Card program across the country in a phased manner.
Regarding the beneficiaries, the Head of Government said that an accurate and acceptable database should be developed to effectively, transparently and accurately deliver the benefits of the Family Card to the real beneficiaries of the country.
Furthermore, he gave strict instructions to the concerned to ensure maximum transparency and accountability in every step of the information collection, verification and beneficiary selection process.
Social welfare minister Dr. A. Z. M. Zahid Hossain, state minister for social welfare Farzana Sharmin, advisor to the Prime Minister Mahdi Amin, principal secretary to the Prime Minister A. B. M. Abdus Sattar, chief coordinator for SDGs at the Prime Minister's Office professor Dr. S. M. Abdul Awal, special secretary of the National Executive Committee of BNP Belayet Hossain Mridha and senior officials of the concerned ministries and departments were also present in the meeting.
