Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury said that economic reform programs will be taken forward in stages based on the priorities and needs of the elected government.
He told this to reporters after a meeting with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation at the Finance Ministry's conference room on Thursday.
At the time, the Finance Minister said, “Discussions have already been held on what will be the basis of a specific program. The basis of this program will be based on the policy issues that have been highlighted earlier.”
He said that the reform work will be carried out while maintaining promise of the elected government. At the same time, changes will be brought in a step-by-step (sequencing) manner as needed.
Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury said, “Whatever is needed will be done when it is needed. Many changes have already been made. The remaining changes will also be implemented in phases according to time and need.”
He indicated that economic reforms will not be implemented all at once but in phases, in line with the circumstances, priorities, and policies of the elected government.
