A court on Tuesday sentenced a man and handed life imprisonment to three others in a case over the gang rape of a housewife at the hostel of MC College in Sylhet.
Sylhet Divisional Speedy Trial Tribunal Judge Swapan Kumar Sarkar delivered the judgement in presence of the accused.
Public Prosecutor Abul Hossain confirmed this.
The verdict comes nearly six years after the assault at the college hostel.
The condemned convict is Saifur Rahman, while the lifer are Shah Mahbubur Rahman alias Rony, Tarekul Islam alias Tarek and Arjun Laskar.
Four other accused Ainuddin, Misbaul Islam, Robiul and Mahfuzur Rahman were acquitted from the case charge as their charges are not proved.
