Two persons were killed and 12 others injured in a clash between two rival groups following a long-standing land dispute in Brahmanbaria's Sarail upazila this morning.

According to police and locals, the conflict between Azad Ali and his stepbrother Sayed Ali started 11 years ago. Their family members often locked into clash centring the matter.

Witnesses said that members of Amanat Ali's family entered Azad Ali's house and attacked him with a sharp weapon, leaving him injured.

Azad Ali's family members immediately took him to Sarail Upazila Health Complex and later transferred him to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital, where physician declared him dead, said Md Rafiqul Hasan, officer-in-charge of Sarail Police Station.

Upon receiving the news of Azad Ali's death, both groups engaged in a clash on Sarail-Aruail regional road, leaving Amanat Ali dead and 12 others injured, the OC added.

Amanat Ali was first taken to the local upazila health complex and later shifted to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries around 11:00am, he said.

OC Rafiqul said, "The bodies of the deceased have been kept at Brahmanbaria General Hospital morgue. Police have been deployed in the village, and the situation is currently under control."
