Earthquake felt in Sylhet

An earthquake was felt in the Bangladesh-India border area near Sylhet. The tremor was experienced by locals on Sunday at 9:21am.

According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the earthquake originated in Silchar, Assam, India, with a magnitude of 4.3 on the Richter scale. Its impact was also felt in Sylhet and nearby border areas of Bangladesh.

Earlier, on 7 April, another earthquake measuring 4.9 struck the same region. That tremor occurred at 2:48pm Bangladesh time and was also felt in Sylhet and surrounding areas.

So far, no damage has been reported from the latest earthquake. However, the sudden tremor caused panic among people living in the border areas.
