Four die with measles symptoms in 24 hours

Four people have died with measles symptoms in the past 24 hours across the country, while 685 new suspected cases have been reported.

The information was disclosed in a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Thursday evening.

According to the statement, 685 suspected measles cases were recorded between 8am on Wednesday (1 April) and 8am on Thursday (2 April).

Since 15 March, the total number of suspected measles cases has reached 3,709. During the same 24-hour period, 26 cases were confirmed, raising the total number of confirmed infections to 585 since 15 March.

From 15 March to date, a total of 2,363 suspected measles patients have been admitted to hospitals, while 1,930 have recovered and been discharged.

Since 15 March, 13 people have died from confirmed measles, while 27 deaths have been reported among suspected cases during the same period, the statement reads.
