At least four people, including women and children, of a family were killed in a collision between a private car and a truck in Osmaninagar upazila of Sylhet today.
The deceased were identified as Sohel, 40, Shamima, 40, Ety Begum, 35, and Ayan, 7, said Monayem Miah, officer-in-charge of Osmaninagar Police Station.
Quoting family members, OC Monayem said a private car carrying seven members of a family collided head-on with a truck on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Unish Mile area around 7:30am.
The accident left two car passengers dead on the spot and five others injured.
The injured were taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital where doctors declared two dead. Three others are undergoing treatment at the same hospital.
The police official also said dense fog caused the accident.
The bodies have been taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for autopsy and no case has been filed in this regard, the OC added.
