Biman CEO arrested over 'torture' of minor house help

Police have arrested Biman Bangladesh Airlines Managing Director and CEO Shafiqur Rahman on allegations of abusing a house help.

He was arrested from his residence in Sector 9 of Uttara in the capital on Sunday night, reports Prothom Alo.

Uttara West police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kazi Rafiq Ahmed said Shafiqur Rahman was arrested in a case filed under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, 2000, and was sent to court.

According to a police source, a minor house help was employed at Shafiqur Rahman’s residence and had allegedly been subjected to physical abuse for a long time.

Following a complaint filed by the child’s family, police arrested him on Sunday night.
