Only BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman will deliver a speech at the reception on Purbachal’s 300 Feet Road on Thursday, marking his homecoming, BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed said on Wednesday.
“Tarique Rahman does not support any programme that could cause hardship to the public. That is why he instructed party activists not to gather at Heathrow Airport in London during his departure,” he said at a press conference at the BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office in Dhaka.
He admitted that in Bangladesh, every effort has been made to implement his instructions, although full compliance was not entirely possible.
Salahuddin said that following Tarique Rahman’s instructions, no event has been organised at locations such as Suhrawardy Udyan or Manik Mia Avenue in the capital.
