A Dhaka court today placed journalist Anis Alamgir on a five-day remand in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam passed the order after police produced Anis before the court with a seven-day remand prayer in the case, said state lawyer Shamsuddoha Suman.
Earlier today, Arian Ahmed, a central organiser of the July Revolutionary Alliance, filed a complaint with Uttara West Police Station against Anis, actress Meher Afroz Shaon, Maria Kispotta and Imtu Ratish.
Yesterday, Anis was picked up from a gym in Dhanmondi and taken to the DB office on Minto Road. He has worked at several media outlets, including print and electronic media. In recent times, he has drawn attention for his active presence on television talk shows.
