A case of attempted murder was filed with the Paltan Police Station last night over the shooting of Sharif Osman Hadi, an independent MP aspirant for Dhaka-8 and spokesperson for Inqilab Moncho.
Abdullah Al Jaber, member secretary of Inqilab Moncho, lodged the case as the plaintiff.
Confirming the development, Officer-in-Charge of Paltan Police Station Mostafa Kamal Khan said Faisal Karim Masud has been named as the prime accused, while several others remain unnamed.
Hadi remains in critical condition after a brazen daylight attack in the capital on December 12.
The incident occurred on Box Culvert Road, between DR Tower and Baitus Salam Jame Mosque, around 2:25pm, said Hussain Muhammad Farabi, assistant commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
Meanwhile, an air ambulance reached Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) this morning to transport Hadi to Singapore for urgent medical treatment, according to a message from the airport's executive director.
The aircraft landed at 11:20am and is scheduled to depart with Hadi at 1:30pm, said sources at the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB).
