A fire broke out at Dhaka University's Bijoy Ekattor Hall premises this evening.
Rafi Al Faruq, duty officer at the Fire Service and Civil Defence control room, confirmed the incident, saying they were alerted about the blaze at 6:13pm.
He said four firefighting units have been deployed and are working to bring the flames under control.
The cause of the fire could not be known immediately, he added.
DU Proctor Prof Saifuddin Ahmed said, "The fire originated from a cylinder in a shop adjacent to the hall. The fire service is working to bring the fire under control."
