Mahidul Islam Ankon is set to make his ODI debut as Bangladesh lost the toss and were asked to bat first by the West Indies in the first ODI of the three-match series at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka on Saturday.
Ankon will slot into the middle-order in place, which looked vulnerable in the recent series against Afghanistan in the UAE, which the Tigers lost 3-0. He replaced Shamim Hossain in the XI.
Soumya Sarkar also returned to the side for the first time since the ICC Champions Trophy and he will open the innings alongside Saif Hassan.
Bangladesh are going in with three genuine spin bowling options against the Shai Hope-led side, who also have three spinners in the XI.
Bangladesh XI: Soumya Sarkar, Saif Hassan, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Tawhid Hridoy, Mehidy Hasan Miraz (c), Mahidul Islam Ankon, Nurul Hasan (wk), Rishad Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Tanvir Islam, Mustafizur Rahman
West Indies XI: Brandon King, Alick Athanaze, Keacy Carty, Shai Hope (c & wk), Sherfane Rutherford, Justin Greaves, Roston Chase, Romario Shepherd, Gudakesh Motie, Khary Pierre, Jayden Seales
