Shipping Adviser Brigadier General (retd) M Sakhawat Hussain today said those who will come to power in the future should learn from the past.
The adviser made the remarks during his visit to the Bir Shrestha Shaheed Shipahi Mustofa Kamal Launch Ghat in Daulat Khan, Bhola today.
The adviser expressed hope that the previous dictatorial government acted with impunity, and emphasised that such actions should not be repeated in the future.
"I hope that future government leaders will learn the lesson of the consequences of wrongdoing. If they do not, I cannot predict what will happen, but as long as we are here, anarchy will not prevail," he added.
Regarding the launch service, the adviser said that several ghats, including one in Manpura, are being constructed in the Bhola district with funding from the World Bank to ensure people can board launches safely during storms.
He added that work will begin soon and is expected to be completed by this year.
Bhola Deputy Commissioner Md Azad Jahan, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Sharifur Islam, and others were present during the visit.
