India has dismissed remarks by Bangladesh’s home adviser Jahangir Alam Chowdhury blaming New Delhi for recent violence, calling the allegations “false and baseless.”
“We categorically reject these false and baseless allegations. The interim government, which is unable to maintain law and order in Bangladesh, has routinely sought to shift the blame elsewhere,” Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said during the weekly media briefing on Thursday.
He urged Dhaka to “introspect and conduct serious investigations into the actions of local extremists committing violence, arson and land grab against minority communities in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.”
Earlier on Monday (29 September), Home Adviser Jahangir Alam Chowdhury alleged that the recent violence in Khagrachhari was being fuelled by “India and fascist groups.”
