The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced a temporary suspension of both tourist and work visas for citizens of nine countries including Bangladesh. The directive will come into effect in January 2026.
In addition, citizens of these nine countries seeking entry for business purposes will also fall under the scope of the ban.
According to the country’s immigration notice, the affected nations are: Afghanistan, Libya, Yemen, Somalia, Lebanon, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Sudan, and Uganda.
The UAE has cited security concerns, geopolitical relations, and global health risks such as the COVID-19 pandemic as reasons behind the restrictions, though the government has not disclosed further details.
Currently, citizens of some of these countries are still eligible to apply for UAE tourist and work visas. However, once the ban takes effect in January 2026, nationals of the listed countries will no longer be able to apply until further notice.
