Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed on Sunday said the police must remain free from political influence and serve as a modern, technology-driven and humane institution.

He made the remarks at the closing parade of the first-phase training programme for trainee assistant superintendents of police from the 27th BCS batch at the Bangladesh Police Academy in Sardah, Rajshahi.

“The police are not a force belonging to any political party or group,” the minister said, adding that the organisation must follow a zero-tolerance policy against corruption.

The Home Minister also said that the police suffered during the previous fascist government. “We must be careful that no person is harassed while seeking services.”

‎The six-month basic training of the 27th BCS (Police) batch first stage trainee Assistant Superintendents of Police concluded with the closing parade. 58 trainees of the 27th BCS (Police) batch first stage, which started on February 1, 2026, are entering real working life through this training closing parade.

‎Home Minister received the greetings as the chief guest of the closing parade organized at the parade ground of the academy. After receiving the greetings, he distributed awards among the trainees who achieved excellence in various subjects.
