Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s Press Secretary Saleh Shibli on Friday said fascism would not be allowed to return to Bangladesh and called for an end to personality-centred politics.

He made the remarks at the launch of a book by Mobasher Hasan in the capital.

Shibli said the interim government had faced certain limitations, but that did not mean the current government would allow forces associated with fascism to regain influence.

He said, “For 15 years, people of the country have been disappeared and murdered. But now is the time to build the country. Abuse and politics are not the same. It seems that we are making abuse a part of culture. No matter what, we will get the desired Bangladesh.”

“As 15 years of disappearances and murders have gone by, Tarique Rahman has also gone through every hardship. Now he has taken charge of Bangladesh. Tarique Rahman is working to build the desired Bangladesh,” added the Press Secretary.

He said that there is national unity on two issues. One is that fascism will not be allowed to return. And Bangladesh will be a safe land for all religions. A qualitative change has begun in politics.

He also commented that we must come out of the politics of worship.
