A truck driver was killed and at least 10 people were injured in a collision between a passenger bus and a truck in Nabiganj upazila of Habiganj early Wednesday.

The accident took place around 1:00am in front of Munim Filling Station in the Aushkandi area. The identity of the deceased could not be confirmed immediately.

According to police, a Limon Paribahan bus travelling from Sylhet to Dhaka collided head-on with an oncoming truck when it reached the Aushkandi area. The impact crushed the truck's front cabin, killing the driver on the spot and leaving at least 10 others injured.

After being informed, members of Sherpur Highway Police and Nabiganj Fire Service rushed to the scene, recovered the body and rescued the injured. With the help of locals, the injured were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

The damaged vehicles were later removed from the highway, allowing traffic to resume.

Md Anisur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sherpur Highway Police Station, said the bus and the truck were travelling at high speed in rainy conditions when they collided.
