The government proposes a Tk14,500 crore allocation for the recently introduced Family Cards scheme under the social safety sector in the proposed national budget for the fiscal year 2026-27.
Under the scheme, 41 lakh women will be provided with family cards; the scheme will gradually expand across the country by 2030.
Meanwhile, 18.95 lakh mothers and children will receive Tk850 per month under the Mother and Child Assistance Programme.
In FY27, a total allocation of Tk1,44,338 crore has been proposed for the social security sector, which was Tk1,26,731 crore in the revised budget for FY26.
