Bangladesh left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman etched his name into the record books by becoming the fastest pacer to claim 400 wickets in T20 cricket during a Bangladesh Premier League match in Sylhet on Friday.
Representing Rangpur Riders, Mustafizur went into the fixture on 399 wickets, having reached the mark in Thursday's loss to Rajshahi Warriors. He needed just one more scalp to reach the milestone and duly achieved it by dismissing Sylhet Titans captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
In doing so, Mustafizur reached 400 T20 wickets in his 315th match, becoming the second-fastest player overall to the feat overall. He overtook South Africa leg-spinner Imran Tahir, who had taken 320 matches to get there. Only Afghanistan spin king Rashid Khan has reached the landmark quicker overall, having done so in 289 matches.
The achievement also saw Mustafizur become just the 11th bowler in T20 history to enter the 400-wicket club. He is the second Bangladesh player to reach the milestone after Shakib Al Hasan, who achieved the feat in 353 matches during the 2022 Bangladesh Premier League.
