A performing art and poetry reading was held in Dhaka to protest the brutal massacre and food-borne deaths caused by the blockade in Gaza, Palestine.

This performing art and poetry reading was held at the Inquilab Cultural Center in Bangla Motor in the capital on Friday (September 12).

In her opening speech at the event, poet and painter Sayla Simi Noor said that 100 ships from 44 countries, led by Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg, set off on August 31 to break the Israeli blockade of Gaza. Hundreds of human rights activists from six continents are with them. Their humanitarian relief aid Global Sumud Flotilla fleet has been attacked again by drones. Yet they have not stopped. We from Bangladesh are expressing solidarity with that effort.

The chief guest of the Live and Love event, poet, thinker, and orientalist political analyst Zahir Hassan, said that Israel is committing a brutal genocide by declaring the people of Gaza as 'animals' and blockaded them in front of the eyes of the whole world. But people claim we are sleeping. Along with the speech, he read a translated poem by Palestinian poet Mosab Abu Toha.

The performance art depicts people throwing stones at each other amidst the rubble. However, the person throwing the stones is a guest. The owner of the house has invited him. So, the guest is driving the owner of the house away and occupying his house. Then the owner of the house says to the crowd, "Say something," but everyone remains silent. No one protests. Then the owner of the house stands up. But he can't hold out much longer. Artist Sayla Simi Noor and poet Polyar Wahid participated in a symbolic representation of the Israeli occupation.

Poet and activist Didarul Bhuiyan, poet and journalist Shakil Mahmud, M A Momen, Sanaullah Sagor, Shams Arefin, Shoeb Ibrahim, Nakib Hasan, Jasimuddin Shumagno, Munia Mahmud, Fahim Faisal, Kollol Karmakar, Dr. Al Fahad, Shahin Parves, Md. Forhad H Majumder, Jawad Neoge, Abu Sufian, Jakir Hossen, Anwar Hossoin, Sahabuddin, Anayetur Rhaman, Faisal M Sifat, Md. Hasan Faisal, Jashim Biswas were present at the event.

At the end of the program, Tejgaon Madrasa student Abdul Gani prayed for the martyrs of Gaza and all oppressed people in the world.
