The leaders of the National Citizen Party (NCP) arrived in Khulna safely after the clashes ensued between banned Awami League leaders and law-enforcement agencies following the rally in Gopalganj on Wednesday.

At least four people were killed and 12 others, including journalists, were injured during the clashes.

Immediately after the incident, law enforcement agencies rescued the attacked NCP leaders and activists under special security arrangements and escorted them safely to Khulna.

The NCP leaders, however, will hold a press conference regarding the clash incidents in Gopalganj at Khulna Press Club around 9:30 PM, said Khulna Anti Discrimination Student Movement member-secretary Sajibul Islam Bappy.

Earlier on Wednesday afternoon, NCP activists staged a sit-in protest at Shivbari Mor in Khulna city to condemn the attack.

They also held a protest march before departing for Gopalganj.
