Teenager detained over rape of 8-year-old in Mymensingh

Police today have detained a teenager for allegedly raping an eight-year-old girl in Mymensingh's Nandail upazila.

The victim's mother alleged that her daughter was raped by a neighbour on Friday night. As the girl fell sick, she was admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) yesterday.

Quoting the doctor, Md Anwar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Nandail Police Station, said the girl was sexually assaulted.

"She is undergoing treatment at MMCH and her condition is improving," the OC said.

Police have detained the accused and he was being interrogated at the police station.

No case has been lodged yet as of 7:45pm.
