Bangladesh Krira Shikka Protishtan (BKSP) emerged unbeaten champions in the BRAC Bank Women's Development Cup Hockey Tournament, outplaying Kishoreganj DSA by 8-0 goals in the final at the Maulana Bhashani National Stadium in Dhaka on Saturday afternoon.
President of the Bangladesh Hockey Federation and Chief of Air Staff of Bangladesh Air Force Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmud Khan was the chief guest in the day's final and distributed the trophies, while Chairman of the tournament''s sponsor BRAC Bank Mehriar M Hasan was also present as the special guest.
Earlier, Jashore DSA finished 3rd in the 11-team meet, beating Rajshahi DSA by 4-0 goals in the 3rd place deciding match at the same venue Saturday morning.
In the day's final, captain Orpita Pual and Irin Akter Ria made a hat trick for BKSP, scoring three goals each.
Besides, Zakia Afroze Lima and Tonni Khatun scored the remaining two goals for the national sports training institute team BKSP.
Later, Orpita Paul was adjudged the highest scorer of the tournament, scoring 30 goals, while Fardia Akter Ratri of Kishoreganj DSA was named the best player of the tournament.
Earlier, BKSP smartly reached the final, crushing Rajshahi DSA by 12-0 goals, while Kishoreganj DSA managed a final berth, eliminating Jashore DSA by 2-1 goals in the semifinals on Friday.
