Information Adviser Mahfuz Alam has said that the interim government’s Advisory Council meetings will conclude by November.
Speaking at the “Meet the Reporters” event organized by the Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU) on Sunday, Mahfuz said, “The Reform Commission has submitted 23 urgent and implementable proposals. After review, ministries are currently implementing 13 of them. We aim to complete all necessary actions before the Cabinet closes in November.”
He added that while the proposals are not very large in scale, the timeline has been shortened from three months to one month because many of these actions require Cabinet approval or policy formulation and cannot be postponed beyond November.
During the event, Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam, Senior Assistant Press Secretary Foyez Ahmad, DRU President Abu Saleh Akon, and General Secretary Mainul Hasan Sohel were also present.
Mahfuz further announced that within the next week, minimum wages for journalists will be determined, aiming to align salaries close to the ninth grade pay scale.
Regarding OTT and YouTube platforms, he clarified that content production falls under the Ministry of Information, while content published on digital platforms will be monitored by the ICT Division. Efforts are underway to regulate content appearing on online platforms.
