The body of 13-year-old Apratim, who went missing after leaving home with his mother’s phone to take pictures with friends, was recovered from a jungle in Cumilla’s Kotbari area on Saturday, a day after he went missing.
Officer-in-charge of Cumilla Sadar South Model Police Station Rakibul Islam said police recovered Apratim’s body from a jungle south of Dakshin Mor.
‘There were signs of head injury,’ he added.
Apratim was a seventh-grade student at Border Guard Public School. He was the only child of Dr Nahida Begum, an associate professor of the Department of Bangla at Cumilla University, and KM Firoz Shahriar.
Apratim left his home in Kotbari around 3:30 pm on Friday with his mother’s phone to take pictures with friends, according to police. He did not return home.
After searching for him in different places, his father filed a general diary with Cumilla Sadar South Police Station that evening.
Police also examined CCTV footage from areas around Cumilla University in an effort to determine his last known location.
Police said the circumstances surrounding the death were being investigated.
