No drugs were found in the dope test of Siddhartha and Mugdha arrested in the murder of retired teacher Ganapati Chakraborty, his wife, son and daughter in Machuapara of Rangpur city. The dope test results came back negative.Meanwhile, when the police applied for remand for further questioning of the accused, the court allowed the two accused to be questioned at the jail gate for three hours each for two days.
Rangpur Metropolitan Police spokesperson and DB deputy police commissioner Sanatan Chakraborty confirmed the matter on Monday afternoon.
He said, “I am not an expert. However, the dope test results come back positive if the drug is taken within two to three days. Since the accused have been in jail for eight days, if the dope test results had come back positive even then, the matter would have flown to a different sector.”
At Rangpur Metropolitan Magistrate Court-2, the investigating officer of the case, Jinnat Ali, applied for a three-day remand of the two accused in the murder case, Mugdha Das and Siddhartha Das, who are in jail. In view of this, the court, after hearing in the presence of the state and defense lawyers, allowed each of the two accused to be questioned at the jail gate for three hours on any two days in the next three days. Judge Rafiqul Islam of the court gave this order.
According to the information, on Sunday, the DB police collected urine samples of the two accused for dope test. Considering the security of the accused, a technologist was sent to the jail to collect the samples. The results of the dope test reached the concerned police office on Monday morning. The results did not find the presence of drugs in the bodies of any of the two accused.
Earlier, on August 22, the police recovered the bodies of four people, including his wife, son and daughter, from the locked house of retired teacher of Rangpur Zilla School, Ganapati Chakraborty, in Machuapara, Rangpur city. In this incident, the police arrested Siddhartha and Mugdha.
