The biennial election-2025 of the century-old business organization The Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry will be held tomorrow, Saturday (May 23). Voting will continue uninterrupted from 9:00am to 4:00pm at the World Trade Center in Agrabad. The chamber authorities said all preparations, including arrangements at the polling center, have already been completed.

According to chamber sources, a total of 4,001 voters in the Ordinary Group and 2,764 voters in the Associate Group will exercise their voting rights in the election. Among the 38 candidates contesting in the Ordinary Group, 12 directors will be elected, while 6 directors will be elected from 15 candidates in the Associate Group.

To ensure a smooth and peaceful election, the Election Commission has issued several instructions for voters. According to the directives, mobile phones and all kinds of electronic devices will not be allowed inside the polling center. Voters must display their chamber-issued voter ID cards before entering the voting center. Ballots must be cast by filling the circle beside the candidate’s photograph. Ordinary Group voters will be allowed to cast a maximum of 12 votes, while Associate Group voters may cast up to 6 votes. Ballots containing fewer or more votes than the prescribed number will be treated as invalid. Voters have also been instructed not to fold the ballot papers under any circumstances.

On Friday at around 5:00pm, Chamber Administrator Md. Motahar Hossain, Election Commission Chairperson Monowara Begum, and other concerned officials visited the polling center. They reviewed the overall arrangements and expressed satisfaction with the preparations.

In a press release signed by Chamber Joint Secretary Nurul Absar Chowdhury, local and national media outlets were requested to publish and broadcast the news item.
