At least four people, including a woman, were killed in a road accident in Madhabpur Upazila of Habiganj district.

The identities of the deceased are not yet known. It is believed that the deceased were close relatives.

The incident occurred on Saturday night at a place called Anjura on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway.

The Highway Police recovered the bodies of four people along with the accident-affected pickup van from a ditch.

Sohel Rana, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Madhabpur Police Station, said that the bodies of one woman and three men were recovered from the pickup van, which had fallen into water.

Preliminary reports suggest that the pickup van may have fallen into the ditch after being hit by another vehicle or losing control.

He also mentioned that the van contained household furniture and belongings, and it is believed that the deceased were members of the same family or close relatives.

Shubho Ranjan Chakma, OC of Shayestaganj Highway Police, said that the deceased were from Companyganj Upazila in Sylhet. Their identities are being confirmed, and their bodies are being sent to Habiganj District Sadar Hospital morgue.
