Man shot dead in Khulna

A man was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Daulatpur area of Khulna city this morning, police said.

The victim, Rashikul Alam Rashu, was attacked around 11:30am in front of KDA Kalpataru Market under Daulatpur Police Station.

Confirming the incident, Daulatpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Shofiqul Islam told that Rashu died after being shot by assailants.

Quoting local eyewitnesses, the OC said two individuals first came to the spot and appeared to observe the surroundings. They returned shortly afterwards and opened fire on the victim.

Police rushed to the scene after receiving information and recovered the body. It was later sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital for an autopsy, he added.

"Law enforcers are working to identify the attackers and determine the motive behind the killing," he added.

According to local sources, Rashu was previously the organising secretary of the Daulatpur thana unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal and was involved in politics with Jubo Dal.
