Eight young journalists of Comilla University have been awarded the ‘Best Reporter’ honor at the 12th anniversary and handover ceremony of the Comilla University Journalists’ Association (CUJA) 2026.
The awards were formally presented on Tuesday (February 17) at 3:00pm at the university’s Administrative Building Virtual Classroom.
The event was attended by the Vice-Chancellor of Comilla University and Chief Adviser of CUJA, Professor Dr. Md. Haider Ali, as the chief guest. Treasurer Professor Dr. Mohammad Solaiman and Proctor Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Hakim were present as special guests. The program was chaired by CUJA President Sayeed Hasan.
Based on overall evaluation, the following journalists were selected as Best University Representatives of the Year: Abu Shama of Daily Kalbela, Naimur Rahman Rizvi of Desh Rupantor, Chowdhury Masabih of Daily Sangbad, Anisur Rahman of Samakal, Abdullah Al Mamun of Amar Desh, Akash Al Mamun of The Daily Campus, Tanvir Mahim of The Financial Post, and Khairul Amin Masum of Alokito Shokal.
Awards were distributed across several categories. Naimur Rahman Rizvi received the ‘Best Report of the Year’ award, while Abdullah Al Mamun was named ‘Best Contributor of the Year’. In the news category, first, second, and third positions were secured by Abu Shama, Anisur Rahman, and Chowdhury Masabih respectively. In the feature category, Tanvir Mahim achieved second place and Khairul Amin Masum secured third place. Akash Al Mamun also received special recognition for excellence in news presentation.
According to the organization, the evaluation was conducted on the basis of objectivity, investigative reporting, feature writing, active engagement with campus issues, and consistency in publication.
The award recipients expressed that the recognition would inspire them to pursue more responsible and professional journalism in the future.
