Rainfall is likely to continue across the country throughout the Eid-ul-Azha holidays, potentially affecting celebrations, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.
The Met Office on Saturday forecast wet weather conditions from 25 May to 28 May, including Eid day, with the possibility of rain continuing even beyond that period.
In a regular weather bulletin, the BMD said light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally winds and lightning flashes are likely at many places in Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.
The forecast also predicts rainfall at a few places in Rajshahi, Dhaka and Chattogram divisions, and at one or two places in Khulna and Barishal divisions.
Moderately heavy to heavy rainfall may occur at places in Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, the bulletin added.
Meanwhile, a mild heatwave is sweeping across Khulna division and the districts of Dhaka, Faridpur, Madaripur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajganj, Chandpur, Lakshmipur and Patuakhali, and the condition may persist.
The country’s highest temperature on Saturday was recorded at 37.4 degrees Celsius in Jashore.
According to the BMD, daytime temperatures may remain nearly unchanged across the country, while night temperatures could fall slightly.
