Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said that the charge sheet in the child Ramisa rape and murder case will be submitted to the court on Sunday.
He also expressed hope that the trial process would be completed within the next five to seven days.
The Home Minister shared the information during a briefing on Sunday.
He said the charge sheet in the Ramisa case would be filed today and that proceedings in the special court are expected to conclude within five to seven days, although he noted that judicial matters ultimately depend on the court.
“I hope the court will ensure the highest punishment,” he said.
Sources concerned said police have already completed the draft of the final charge sheet and are currently finishing technical procedures, including entering data into the Crime Data Management System software.
The charge sheet is expected to name the prime accused, Sohail Rana, and his wife, Swapna Akter. Swapna Akter has already been brought before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court.
Last Wednesday, Sohail Rana gave a confession under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure before a magistrate in Dhaka.
Police officials involved in the investigation said further inquiry into the circumstances of the incident is ongoing. Authorities are continuing legal procedures as the case moves forward.
