Symbols to be allocated today, campaigning begins tomorrow

The deadline for withdrawal of candidacy in the thirteenth national parliamentary election has ended. In this context, the Election Commission, EC, will allocate election symbols to candidates today, Wednesday, January 21. After receiving their symbols, candidates will formally begin election campaigning from tomorrow, Thursday, January 22.

According to the Election Commission’s announced roadmap, voting will be held on February 12 from 7.30 am to 4.30 pm without interruption. Alongside the parliamentary election, a referendum will also be held on the same day using a separate ballot.

So far, more than 2,000 candidates have been listed as valid in this election. Nearly 127.7 million voters across the country will exercise their voting rights in the election, which will be conducted using transparent ballot papers.

According to the EC circular, candidates’ names in the final list will be arranged in Bengali alphabetical order.
