A lion reportedly came out of its cage at the National Zoo in the capital’s Mirpur on Friday evening.
Mohammad Rafiqul Islam Talukdar, Director of the National Zoo, confirmed the incident at around 6:15pm.
He told journalists that the lion came out of its cage in the field area around 4:45pm. “The lion is currently lying near the cage. Several of our gunmen are in position, and we will take action to control it if it moves,” he said.
The director further said that the lion has not harmed anyone so far. “We have cordoned off the area. There is no reason for panic,” he said.
