Jiban Bima Corporation (JBC) and United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB) have formally launched their bancassurance services, enabling the marketing of JBC’s life insurance products through the bank’s corporate agency network.
The initiative was inaugurated on Thursday at Hotel Pan Pacific Sonargaon in Dhaka, marking the transfer of the first First Premium Receipt (FPR) under the new arrangement. With this launch, UCB will now offer JBC’s insurance policies directly to its customers, expanding access to life insurance coverage through the banking channel.
Md Muhibuzzaman, Managing Director and Additional Secretary of Jiban Bima Corporation, and Mohammad Mamdudur Rashid, Managing Director and CEO of UCB, attended the ceremony as chief guests. Senior executives and general managers from both institutions were also present. Officials said the collaboration is expected to support the growth of Bangladesh’s life insurance penetration by leveraging UCB’s customer network and digital infrastructure, while strengthening JBC’s distribution channels.
