India orders all Pakistani citizens to leave by April 29

Amid heightened diplomatic tensions following the Pahalgam terror attack, India has directed all Pakistani nationals currently residing in the country to leave by April 29.

In a statement issued Thursday, the Ministry of External Affairs announced the immediate suspension of visa services for Pakistani citizens.

"In response to the recent Pahalgam terror incident, which India holds Pakistan responsible for, the government has suspended visa issuance for Pakistani nationals with immediate effect," the statement said. "All Pakistani citizens present in India are instructed to exit the country before their visas expire, in accordance with the new directive."

The order does not apply to Pakistani diplomats posted in New Delhi, although their presence was scaled back earlier this week following India's decision to reduce diplomatic personnel from Pakistan.

This move marks a significant step in the escalating diplomatic strain between the two neighboring countries.
